On 4 February we celebrate World Cancer Day, a global day to reflect, act and give a voice to millions of people affected by cancer. This year, the theme ‘United by Unique’ invites us to put people at the centre and their stories at the heart of the conversation.
Cancer is not just a medical diagnosis; behind every case is a unique story of pain, struggle, love and resilience. This people-centred approach, which integrates their individual needs with empathy and compassion, is key to achieving the best health outcomes.
COCAPTAIN brings an innovative and humane approach to cancer care, focusing on people with mental health issues. Through a co-designed patient navigator model, it seeks to break down barriers to accessing cancer prevention and care services, promoting inclusive and equitable care. This approach not only improves early detection and treatment, but also ensures that every person is treated with dignity, respect and empathy, aligning with a fairer, more people-centred healthcare system.
This year’s theme begins a three-year journey from awareness to action, exploring new ways to make a difference. Every cancer experience is unique, and only together can we build a future where we see the person before the patient.
This World Cancer Day, let’s come together to rewrite the story of cancer care, prioritising the needs of individuals and communities.
